JONATHAN SHOEMAKER - PRODUCER

Jonathan Shoemaker is a founding partner of Centre Street where his producing credits include the feature films The Treatment, Duane Incarnate, Face, Searching For Paradise, Maryam and Freak Talks About Sex.  Additionally, Shoemaker has produced Last Days of May, co-produced The Hottest State, The Baxter (with IFC Films), Kill the Poor (with InDigEnt), Paul Reiser’s Untitled New York Pilot (for FX) and the upcoming A Dog Year (with HBO) and August.  Shoemaker has line-produced numerous other features and television films including Other Voices, Six Ways to Sunday and BBC Arena’s Searching For the Wrong-Eyed Jesus

Having first come to New York City in 1990 to pursue graduate studies in English literature (and secretly write fiction on the side), Shoemaker’s attention was quickly drawn to the dynamism and relevance of New York’s burgeoning independent film scene.  Before long, Shoemaker was leaving the shelter and seclusion of academics for the rough and tumble world of film production.  Working in a variety of roles - production coordinator, assistant director, location manager, production manager - Shoemaker gained valuable experience and insight in the production trenches.  He soon found himself line producing feature films of ever-increasing scope and ambition.

Today, Shoemaker brings to his projects this unique dual sensibility - nuts-and-bolts production savvy joined with a deep understanding of classic storytelling.  He is currently developing a slate of films to be produced under his Centre Street banner.  Among them are Parrish Griggs’s The Tiger Ate the Snow, to be directed by Bertha Bay-Sa Pan (Face), and Tom O’Brien’s Fairhaven, which Shoemaker will himself direct.

Shoemaker holds an M.A. in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University, and a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia.

In his spare time, he teaches Anusara Yoga.
